Staff M365 Platform Engineer & Owner

This role offers a unique opportunity to serve as the technical owner and strategic operator for an enterprise Microsoft 365 GCC High environment. You will lead complex configurations, migrations, and automations while translating high-level governance policies into actionable technical controls. The position blends hands-on engineering with platform stewardship, giving you the chance to directly impact operational efficiency, security, and compliance. You will collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to maintain a secure, high-performing environment while driving innovation and continuous improvement. Accountabilities:
- Serve as the primary technical owner of the M365 GCC High tenant, overseeing Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and Entra ID workloads
- Lead hands-on administration of mail flow, DNS, and transport rules, ensuring GCC High compliance and reliability
- Develop and maintain automation and scripting using PowerShell and Graph API for lifecycle management, site provisioning, and security auditing
- Implement governance policies as technical controls, including DLP, Conditional Access, and retention labels
- Execute tenant-to-tenant migrations during mergers and acquisitions, including mailbox, drive, and site data migrations
- Validate vendor deliverables, ensuring alignment with technical, security, and compliance standards
- Provide Tier 3 support for complex platform issues and manage the rollout of new M365 features
- Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, architectural diagrams, and SOPs
Requirements:
- 6–8+ years of hands-on experience managing M365/Exchange Online in enterprise environments
- Expertise in GCC/GCCH cloud boundaries and their technical limitations
- Strong proficiency in Entra ID (Azure AD), including identity synchronization, application registrations, and security/compliance center configurations
- Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for large-scale M365 workload management
- Experience executing at least one major tenant-to-tenant migration
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field
- Knowledge of NIST 800-171, CMMC, or DFARS 7012 compliance requirements
- U.S. Citizenship required, with eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (Secret or higher)
- Preferred certifications: Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert, Microsoft 365 Messaging Administrator Associate, Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator (SC-300), CompTIA Security+/CySA+/CASP+
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to operate independently
