Software Architect – Enterprise Private Cloud Infrastructure & AI Workloads
About the Role
Wind River is a leader in delivering mission-critical, distributed cloud infrastructure that powers some of the world’s most demanding environments. We are expanding our footprint into the enterprise private cloud market, enabling our customers to run both standard compute and AI-intensive workloads on secure, scalable, and highly automated infrastructure.
Our Wind River Private Cloud portfolio includes the Kubernetes Container Platform, OpenStack, Analytics, and Automation solutions—engineered for high performance, reliability, and enterprise-grade security.
We are seeking a Senior Software Architect to lead the definition, evolution, and technical strategy for our enterprise-focused platforms. This is a senior technical leadership role with broad architectural responsibility across multiple product lines.
What You’ll Do
As the Software Architect, you will:
- Own the architectural vision for Wind River’s enterprise private cloud offerings, ensuring they meet the performance, scalability, security, and compliance requirements of enterprise customers.
- Drive end-to-end architectural design across the Kubernetes Container Platform, OpenStack, Analytics, and Automation frameworks, with integration pathways for AI/ML workloads.
- Collaborate with product management, engineering teams, and customer architects to align platform capabilities with enterprise needs and market trends.
- Define and document architecture patterns, reference designs, and technology roadmaps for enterprise deployments, including hybrid cloud and edge integration.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging open-source technologies, frameworks, and standards, balancing functional, architectural, and operational trade-offs.
- Provide technical leadership in proof-of-concept and pilot programs for AI and high-performance workloads, ensuring optimal use of GPUs, FPGAs, and other accelerators.
- Partner with the security architecture team to embed security-by-design principles across all components.
- Act as a mentor and technical authority for development teams, fostering a high-performance engineering culture.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in software architecture and product development, with at least 5 years in cloud infrastructure solutions for enterprise markets.
- Deep knowledge of enterprise infrastructure requirements: security, compliance, scalability, performance optimization, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Proven expertise in Kubernetes, OpenStack, and enterprise-grade automation frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Argo CD).
- Experience with observability and analytics platforms (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Elastic Stack, OpenSearch).
- Solid understanding of AI/ML workload orchestration in cloud environments, including GPU scheduling, data pipeline management, and inference serving.
- Familiarity with cloud-native standards (CNCF projects, CSI, CNI) and multi-cloud/hybrid cloud architectures.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare, government) with complex compliance needs.
- Contributions to open-source projects in Kubernetes, OpenStack, or related ecosystems.
- Understanding of edge computing architectures and distributed systems at scale.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps principles and security automation.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to define the next generation of enterprise private cloud solutions.
- Work with cutting-edge technologies in cloud-native, AI, and automation domains.
- A collaborative environment with some of the best engineering talent in the industry.
- Competitive compensation, benefits, and professional development opportunities.
If you are a visionary architect who thrives at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, enterprise requirements, and emerging AI workloads, we invite you to join us and shape the future of the Wind River Private Cloud.
