This role offers the opportunity to lead product security initiatives across a cloud-native platform, embedding security throughout the software development lifecycle. The Senior Product Security Architect will collaborate closely with development and SRE teams to ensure secure architecture, design, and implementation of microservices, APIs, and distributed systems. This position balances hands-on technical guidance with strategic influence, helping shape secure development practices across multiple teams. You will lead threat modeling, secure design reviews, and architecture discussions while driving improvements in CI/CD, container, and cloud-native security. The role is ideal for someone who thrives on influencing engineering decisions, mentoring peers, and elevating organizational security maturity. This is a fully remote position, providing flexibility and the chance to impact product security at scale.

Accountabilities:

  • Embed security throughout the Software Security Development Lifecycle (SSDLC), ensuring secure design in microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.
  • Lead threat modeling, architecture discussions, and secure design reviews across engineering teams.
  • Drive secure coding expectations, secure defaults, and best practices in CI/CD workflows.
  • Guide container and cloud-native security, including runtime protections, image vulnerabilities, and supply chain risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams, communicating risk clearly and guiding engineering tradeoffs.
  • Deliver training, mentorship, and awareness programs to improve security maturity.
  • Support incident response, post-incident improvements, and continuously research emerging threats and technologies.
  • Update and maintain security policies, standards, and architecture principles as the platform evolves.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in product application security, including secure design for microservices and APIs.
  • Expertise in threat modeling, vulnerability analysis, and understanding OWASP categories in distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience partnering with engineering teams to shape secure coding patterns, code review workflows, and CI/CD security.
  • Familiarity with container and Kubernetes security concepts, tooling, and cloud-native workload protections.
  • Strong architectural leadership skills with the ability to influence engineering decisions across teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with developers, SREs, and product teams.
  • Preferred knowledge: FedRAMP at the architecture level and secure AI/ML development patterns.
  • Proven ability to mentor, lead initiatives, and improve security maturity within large-scale engineering organizations.
