Job Description

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for preparing medications for patient consumption under the general supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with standard departmental procedures. Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician may measure, mix, count, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate. 
• Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs. 
• Retrieves, pours, counts, weighs, measures, and sometimes mixes medication. 
• Performs administrative functions such as answering phones and stocking shelves. 
• Prepares prescription labels, selects the type of container and affixes the prescription and auxiliary labels to the container. 
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.   
• Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

• Current and unrestricted license or authorizing document from any US State, District of Columbia or US Territory to provide healthcare within scope of practice. 
• Three or more (3+) years of experience as a pharmacy technician preferred. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records 
• (EMR). 
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 

Education Required: 

• Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program. 

Physical Requirements: 

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. 
• Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
• May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

• Must be able to read, write & speak English to effectively communicate  
• This position is unaccompanied.   
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.    
• US DOD CNACI or the ability to obtain one is required.  
• A valid passport is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
