About the Role

At Datadog, we’re on a mission to bring security and observability together for modern organizations. Bits AI for Security is our AI-powered assistant that leverages large language models (LLMs) to help analysts investigate alerts, understand threats, and respond faster. We’re looking for an Engineering Manager I to lead the team building the next generation of AI-driven security capabilities.

This is a unique opportunity to combine security expertise with GenAI/LLM innovation, helping shape how AI empowers security analysts worldwide.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships that it builds, the creativity it brings to the table, and the collaboration of being together. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our employees can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and grow a talented engineering team working at the intersection of security, AI, and product innovation.
  • Partner closely with product managers, security experts, and AI researchers to design and deliver AI Agents (LLM-powered) that drive real value for our customers.
  • Guide the team in building production-ready systems that combine Datadog’s security platform with GenAI models, agents, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.
  • Help your engineers grow in their careers by coaching, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative, inclusive culture.
  • Own the delivery of critical product initiatives, ensuring technical excellence, reliability, and alignment with Datadog’s high bar for security.

Who You Are:

  • An experienced engineering leader with a proven track record of managing software engineers and shipping impactful products, with 3+ years of experience managing teams of 5+ engineers.
  • Knowledgeable about LLM technologies (prompt engineering, fine-tuning, RAG, agents) and how to apply them in real-world, production-grade systems.
  • Comfortable with backend or full-stack development in a cloud-based SaaS environment.
  • Strong in communication and collaboration, able to align engineers, product managers, and researchers around shared goals.
  • Passionate about building teams and culture as much as building systems.

Bonus Points

  • Excited to work in the security domain, with an understanding of how analysts investigate threats and alerts (security background is a strong plus).
  • Hands-on experience with LLM frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI API, Hugging Face, etc.).
  • Contributions to AI/ML infrastructure or applied GenAI products.
  • Experience scaling products in a high-growth SaaS environment.

Why You Should Apply

  • You’ll be at the forefront of AI applied to security, shaping how analysts use GenAI to work smarter and faster.
  • You’ll lead a highly motivated team at Datadog, collaborating across product, AI research, and security domains.
  • You’ll have the chance to work on cutting-edge GenAI/LLM challenges with real-world impact.

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.

  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
